Photographer · Sport & place
Photographs from twenty-eight places between Reykjanes and the Smokies — and from the Olympic floors, the Monza chicane, the Keeneland morning.
A morning in the highlands, before anyone else was out.
A frame that pulled me back.
A new volcano, the day it opened. Smoke, glow, no crowds.
The Douro at the end of the road.
The hour everyone else had gone home.
A long stop on the A82. The valley opens, the weather turns.
Michael Pendley. American photographer. Columbus, Ohio.
I shoot film. A Fujifilm GW690 — medium format, 6×9 negatives — and a Leica M2 with three lenses. The medium-format negatives print large: 30×40 and beyond, gallery scale.
